Code of Conduct

patterson-corp is maintained as part of Patterson Companies’ internal engineering practice. Contributors are expected to conduct themselves professionally, in a manner consistent with Patterson’s own employee standards of conduct, whether they are Patterson employees, contractors, or automated agents acting on their behalf.

  • Communicate directly and respectfully in issues, pull requests, and reviews.
  • Assume good faith. Disagree with a proposal or a review comment on its merits, not its author.
  • Give and receive feedback focused on the work: correctness, standards adherence, maintainability, and the accuracy of any claim a skill or document makes.
  • Respect the provenance conventions in CONTRIBUTING.md. Do not present a guess as an authoritative Patterson standard, and do not remove a documented [TBD] without the source material to justify it.
  • Keep discussion of sensitive material – credentials, personal data, unreleased business information – out of public issues and pull requests. Use the private channel described in SECURITY.md for anything security-sensitive.
  • Harassment, discriminatory language, or personal attacks directed at any contributor.
  • Deliberately introducing incorrect standards content, fabricated sourcing, or content that misrepresents Patterson policy.
  • Publishing another person’s private information without consent.
  • Circumventing the review, testing, or provenance requirements described in CONTRIBUTING.md.

This applies within all spaces associated with this repository – issues, pull requests, discussions, and any other project communication channel – and when an individual is representing the project or Patterson Companies in a public setting.

Report a concern to the repository’s listed CODEOWNERS team, or through Patterson’s internal HR and compliance channels for matters involving Patterson personnel. Reports are handled discreetly. [TBD: Patterson has not published a repository-specific enforcement escalation path or response-time commitment; this document does not invent one.]

This document is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1, for a business-to-business engineering context.
